The Earth is in ruins. Cities and nations destroyed. Mankind is extinct.

Brant and Arsha are synthetics, machines made in the image of people. They dream of bringing humans back into the world and have the technology to succeed, but the obstacles in their way are mounting.

Not only are their own conflicting ideals creating a rift between them, but now the sinister Marauders are closing in as they seek revenge on Brant. Out in the wasteland, strange lights and mysterious objects in the sky herald the arrival of new factions that seek to control the region.

Even in the once quiet streets of their own city, malevolent forces are beginning to unfurl that threaten the sanctity of everything they hold dear, jeopardising the future that is within their grasp.

The Seeds of New Earth The Silent Earth Book 2 eBook Mark R Healy

The war destroyed Earth.
It wiped out the human race, leaving behind only synthetics that need neither sleep nor food to survive.
Eventually, however, even their power cells will run dry and when that happens Earth will be completely uninhabited.
Unless...
Unless the two synthetics that have been tasked to care for and then bring to life frozen human embryos can succeed in their mission to repopulate the planet.
"The Seeds of New Earth" is the second book in a planned trilogy by Australian author Mark R. Healy and it is every bit as spellbinding as the first. It lacks the numerous battles that marked Healy's first offering as his android hero Brant struggled to cross a vast wasteland while being pursued by rogue synthetics who want to use his parts to prolong their own lives. That is not a deficiency, however, for it allows the author the opportunity to more fully develop his characters and in my opinion he does that brilliantly.
Brant, who has been damaged somewhat during his years-long ramble through the wasteland, is conflicted. He has questions about his mission and often doubts his ability to complete it. The other half of this two-synthetic team is Arsha: Unlike Brant she is completely focused on the mission and, on the surface at least, seems to have no uncertainties about her ability to complete it successfully. While Brant was in the wasteland, ostensibly leading outlaw synthetics away from the embryos, she remained behind caring for them and planting seeds so that if the new children are born they will have something to eat. In this second installment of the trilogy, Healy does an excellent job of describing their day-to-day struggles while fleshing out several other characters, including the ominous Wraith, the leader of the rogue synthetics.
This book is more character driven than the first one, but that does not mean there are no dangers to face; no battles to be fought. There are and Healy writes these scenes with great skill. His narrative skills are on full display throughout the book, but never more so than when he is describing the knee-wobbling tension of a fight.
This is an excellent addition to the trilogy and I cannot wait to read the third book when it comes out.

The Seeds of New Earth The Silent Earth Book 2 eBook Mark R Healy Reviews

An enjoyable story of post apocalypse Earth with some endearing characters.
I read this not realizing it was not book one. Glad I did otherwise I would not have bought the series. A decent read but sometimes it seems slow. This wasn't the book you just can't put down.
The second book was about creating a working family and staying away from the bad guys. As a whole I enjoyed the first book better but in the second I am learning interesting facts about how they intend on creating their new world. A fascinating story and an enjoyable read.
The Seeds of New Earth Book 2 continues on with the artificial people starting to bring back humans after they had all been gone from the planet for centuries. The whole earth had literally been destroyed by wars and bombs.and it was finally starting to been clear of all the stuff that had been in the air and plants were starting to grow again. So two of the A-ones have decided to take embreyos out of storage and start the human race again. This is about the problems they have with the other A-Ones on the planet when they find out.
I was so in love with The Silent Earth book 1 that as soon as I finished I bought this one. I'm still loving Mark R. Healy's story line. As soon as I complete my review I am looking for book 3. Our earth is strong and resilient, it will continue as will the life that resides here. With robots, drones and the rest I can well believe that we will someday have synthetics or androids such as Arsha, Brant, Mish and Ell. Unfortunately there will also be the bad guys. Mr. Healy, please continue to write story's that hold me captive for days.
This is the second book the series and builds on the first one with new characters, new ideas, and new situations. All three books are filled with interesting, complex characters and exciting action. I never knew what was going to happen next and couldn't wait to find out. I could easily see these being made into a series of movies and I'd definitely go see them. I'm hoping the author decides to revisit the characters in a few years so we can see what grows from the seeds planted here.
I enjoyed the book of this series, After the Winter (The Silent Earth, Book 1), so much that I purchased this one before completing the reading of it.
Resuming a couple of years after the first, we find Brant working with Arsha in the 'reseeding' of the Earth.
With limited viability left, they have been forced to activate the cell banks. Beginning with plant life rapidly progressing to animals and then to man the two synthetics beings struggle with the human dilemmas of how to best parent and provide-for a child(ren) in the middle of a declining post-apocalyptic world while hiding from a roaming band of synthetic marauders.
The strength of this series is its willingness to forgo the fluffy romance and the cheesy machoness that is so often seen in today's Science Fiction in favor of the classic speculative nature of the Science Fiction genre.
I highly recommend this book (series) to serious Science Fiction readers.
